Sister SCHLOSSER

About 3 years ago, I met my best friend, Sydney Schlosser!  She is pretty much the most awesome person that I have ever met.  Anyway, she decided to leave me for 18 months and go on a mission.  I was super proud of her and he decision but sad that she wasn't going to be around anymore.  The longest time we have not seen each other is 3 months before she left, since we met.  Those were some hard 3 months and I could still call her.  Instead of having her family all come out, she decided that she wanted me to take her to the MTC.  Kaitlyn picked her up from the airport since I had work training and when I got to the FHE activity that Kailtyn took her too, I was over joyed to see her!  We had a great couple of days.  I was so sad to see her go but the good thing about not catching up on my blog till now is that she come home in less than 4 months!

She got me this cat skirt and insisted that I wear it out the next day since she had to dress up.  She was already set apart as a sister missionary.

I gave her the royal treatment and made her smoothies and egg mcmuffin sandwiches every morning.

We went shopping before she left.  Her last time in awhile at an American store, Forever 21.

We met up with Morgan, our old roommates and most amazing friend!  Love me some Morgan.  We went to Costa Vita per Syd's request.

We rode the Trax, last time on the Trax before Syd left...

Last minute, we decided to go to the Salt Lake temple to do baptisms.  Good thing I decided to dress up!  It was my first time in the Salt Lake Temple and it was beautiful.  I haven't been back since, maybe I am waiting for Sydney to return.

On our way to the MTC... Sydney is super excited and I am trying not to cry...

Oh Sidley Sue...

Every missionary needs a picture with her bestie in front of the temple.

Love this girl... she is crazy.

Disclaimer: This was staged by Sydney.  This thought it would be funny to have pictures of her trying to run away before we took her to the MTC.  Therefore it would be my fault that she had not been taken to the MTC.

She ran pretty far.  As we started to drive to the MTC, she told me to pull the car over.  She told me she needed a minute and then she broke down.  I thought I would be the only one crying.  After the breakdown, she reassured me that she was ready.  I love this girl.  Can't wait to see her soon!

Last look as she strolled away...

As we were driving to the MTC, David, our other bestie, informed us that Sarah, his wife was having her baby.  Little Lucy.  Sydney had just missed this happening.  I got the picture several hours after I took her to the MTC.  I sent it to her in my first email.  We have emailed almost every week since she has been gone and I look forward to her returning in September and going to see her in November for Thanksgiving.

Winter 2012

My sister's blog has inspired me to start blogging again and catch up.  I probably should have done this with the challenge but better late than never.  I know that millions of you have probably have been wondering what I have been up.  I actually wondered that myself.  It has been almost a year and a half since I moved to Utah and I only had one post of my apartment.  Which I am sure to my most frequent visitors is getting extremely old.
So here is to blogging...  I am going to compile events since my first month in Utah were not that exciting.  I was substitute teaching and barely surviving!  I think back to those months and it was a miracle I did anything besides work and eat, very cheaply I may say.
My roommate (Kaitlyn) and I, did get to go to a Grizzley's Hockey Game.  This was only due to the fact that our ward paid.  Thank you!  We did have to pay for parking, which almost broke the bank.  Okay not really but we had a great time and even got to see a fight!

The ref breaking it up, obviously the man at the bottom of the picture wasn't as impressed as we were...

Ever heard of Groupon?  When it is your first time living in a city bigger than Rexburg you need to check out the sites and see if you city has a Groupon.  Well, Salt Lake does and Kaitlyn and I were frequent visitors to this site.  It pretty much just offers discounting prices to different things in your area.
Anyway, one day I was looking and found Jazz tickets for cheap and decided we had to go.  Even in our destitute state, I managed to pay for them and I think we got Wendy's for dinner too.  We go all out!
Our seats were nose bleeds... what did you expect for discounted tickets?  But the Jazz still won and we had a great time.  I was extremely tired after working a 10 hour day but it was a great way to end the long day.

I know what you are all wondering how many of the kids I substituted for had crushes on me.  Well the answer would probably be just one, the kid who made this in paint instead of doing his actual assignment.  It was such a sweet thought and I loved how he thought I was married, or maybe he just didn't know the difference yet.

I got a second job at the beginning of February, making the finances a little less tight.  I was working for 4-H.  I thought it was for the pigs and chicken raising thing too, but they also have after school program for kids whose parent's work or need more time before they come home.  Pretty much I was getting paid to play with these kids for 3 hours after school.  We did devote an hour to homework, at which most kids decided it was time they should probably go home.  I loved this job!  I loved all the kids I worked with.  We called one kid Hadley and he was so funny, hyperactive but awesome.  He made this pizza and I had to capture it.
They were in a competition with all the other after school programs and we did a "little people" dance.   They kids had so much fun and we actually won the competition!  I was so proud of my kiddos!

Every once and awhile, Kaitlyn and I would splurge.  This after the first time we had gotten paid.  It had been a rough week and we were sick of eating roman.  We went out to Red Iguana 2.  The first one looked like it might have had something beside food cooking.  We took my Buick Le Sabre 1998 and wished we didn't because they had Valet Parking.  I wanted to park around the corner but Kaitlyn insisted.  The food was amazing and I had to have a Virgin Pina Colada.

Once I had my second job for awhile, I redid my room.  I loved my room before but I need something a little more grown-up.  Not that the zebra is that grown-up but I love it.  I made the pillow in the middle. It took 5 hours and making it up the whole time but because I had spent too much on the rest of it, I had to made the pillow I envisioned.  It was really fun and it was nice to know that I could actually do it.

My New Home.... D104

Due to my sisters request, yet again, I am blogging about my new apartment. I need to catch up with other things but I wanted to show my new home..... and it is the complete tour with lots of photos so you can feel like you are here.
My wonderful table, it was a rough ride to get this table to where it is today but after it barely fitting in the Camry and then having to replace it because IKEA directed us to get the wrong legs (which made it so the screws went through the top of the table) we were able to get the perfect table and I love it!
I may just be starting out but thanks to my graduation money and gift cards I am not starving.
My fridge is also full and the freezer is also full of meat thanks to my wonderful roommate Kaitlyn. We should have taken a picture but we looked gross because we were cleaning our apartment so I could take pictures and my mom is coming on Monday and I wanted her to see I could take care of myself.
The Kitchen...
Full view of the Kitchen.
Our lovely magnetic board, thanks Uncle Jonny!
Living Room with our secretary desk.
Living Room with our beautiful chair and couch provided by my roommie.
My favorite wall, the TV!!!!! And the decorations are pretty cute too.
Our front entry and part of our Living Room.
This is our printing and calendar station with our menu listed so we know what to cook.
Bathroom.... yeah it is never this clean so enjoy it because if you come to visit the chances of it looking like this are slim to none.
Clean shower and my cheap shower curtain with frogs on it telling us to go green, go environment!
Bathroom again...
This is how I dry my clothes... nothing really to do with the apartment but I was drying them today so I took a picture. I hang them on my doorway to my bedroom so I have to duck every time I need to go into my bedroom.
My personal favorite part of my apartment is that it comes with washer and dryer!
Kaitlyn's bed.... she has a really nice bed and loves to spend time in it.
Another shot of Kaitlyn's room...
Can you tell she is an English major? Look at that bookcase! She has already loaned me several books and I love it!
Another great thing about the apartment is that we both have linen closets... this Kaitlyn's. She was embarrassed that I took a picture because it was so messy but usually the door is closed.
My linen closet.... not very full because I have a massive closet that you will see soon.
My bed!
My huge closet! This is only one side...
and the other side.
Back wall of my bedroom, as you can see with my giant TV.
My art work that I am too lazy to hang so I just put it up against the floor.
Oh and I do work.... here is my busy schedule for those who think I just.... I don't know think I watch TV all day. Excuse some of the notes.... my friend Melanie decided to write goals down for me such as "Find a Date on V-Day" which I wasn't able to accomplish that goal. Sorry Melanie.
For those of you who don't know, I moved to Utah to substitute teach in the Davis County School District and am doing great and able to get a job almost every day! I love getting paid for what I got my degree in.... makes those 4 years worth it!
I don't watch TV all day but I did aquire this huge TV from Julianne. Josh, he son was going to shoot it but I took it off their hands. My dad said that I should have let him shoot it...
The left side of my room with all my jewelry boxes.
I hope you have enjoyed the tour!
I love my new home but still miss my other home in Idaho, I am excited I get to go visit so often and only live 3 hours away.
